Sassy Mule

Sassy-Mule.jpg

From Episode XXXII: Balak with Dr. Andrew Rehfeld:

Start by quartering a jalapeño and removing the seeds. Add one quarter into your mixing glass (or two if your donkey is extra sassy) and muddle. You’re not trying to shred the thing, just get some of the juices out.

Add in 2 oz vodka (it’s a mixed blessing) and 2 oz pineapple juice (for the sweetened curses) and shake with ice. Pour over crushed ice in a copper mule mug (or just a rocks glass if you’re not enough of a mule drinker to have mule mugs lying around) and top with 4 oz ginger beer.

Garnish with a slice of Jalapeño, bless the Israelites (mah tovu — how good is this drink!), and serve!

For a non-alcoholic sassy mule, omit the vodka and simply stir the ingredients together with 2 oz club soda.

Say a blessing, not a curse, listen to your donkey, and enjoy.
