Menorah Branch

Ep. 233 - Beha'alotcha with Cantor Josh Rosenberg:

We’re going to start with a honey syrup for the gold of the Menorah. On medium heat, equal parts honey and water, stir until dissolved, kill there heat, let it sit for a few minutes, then store in a jar until you’re ready to use it.

In a cocktail shaker, let’s get 2 oz bourbon, because hammering all this out is going to he hard work. Throw in ¾ oz honey syrup for that golden sweetness and ¾ oz lemon juice for the Israelites’ bitterness about the whole meat thing. Shake with ice and strain into a rocks glass with a nicely sculpted ice cube.

For a non-alcoholic version, swap out the bourbon with 2 oz black tea of your choosing.

This is a menorah branch, right? So — very carefully — singe the end of a rosemary sprig as a garnish, both for the lit menorah and for the smokey cloud that leads the people through the wilderness.

And that’s one beautiful menorah!
