Cursed Mudslide

Ep. 232 - Nasso with Rabbi Andrea Weiss, Ph.D.:

In honor of the Mei Hamarim Ham’ar’rim — The Bitter Curse Water that the priests used as a witchhunt-esque lie detector test — we wanted something a little sweeter, and a little more appropriate for these hot summer days. We bring you, the Cursed Mudslide.

Start by rimming the glass in some dirt or, in this case, cinnamon sugar. Gently wet the rim of your glass with a drop of Kahlua — you might know where this is going already — and dip the rim into cinnamon sugar to coat. Drizzle in some chocolate syrup and we’re ready to make the drink.

In a blender, we’re starting with 1 oz aforementioned Kahlua, because coffee grounds look kind of like dirt. What else is in the priestly recipe? Flour! For our grain stand-in, we’re using grain-based vodka. 1 oz of that plus 1 oz Irish cream.

Hey Gabe, why are we putting this in a blender? Because we’re adding in 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream because purity is an important part of this whole thing. Finally, add in a pinch of cinnamon for the priest’s curse, because the secret ingredient is always cinnamon.

Blend it all together and pour into your prepared vessel.

For all our Nazarite friends who need a non-alcoholic option, swap out the booze for a shot of espresso and an oz of milk.

Garnish with a pinch of dirt — I mean, cinnamon — say amen, and enjoy! Make one for you, one for your clergy person, and even one for your spouse. Drink responsibly — we wouldn’t want this one to make you sick. That’s a bad joke.

And, as always, l’chayim!
