Hardened Heart

From Episode 213 — Bo with Rabbi Joel Simons:

In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour one out for the first born Egyptians with 1 oz bourbon, preferably Angel’s Envy for the angel of death. Angel’s Envy is aged in Port barrels, giving it notes that will perfectly pair with 1 oz PAMA Pomegranate liqueur for the blood on the doorposts. Add in ½ oz each of simple syrup and lemon juice for the bitter-sweet realities of our escape from Egypt and shake until chilled. Strain over whiskey stones for that hard heart in a rocks glass and garnish with a slice of lemon for the dawn of a new day.

For a non-alcoholic version, use 1 oz each apple cider and pomegranate juice with ½ oz lemon juice. The juice is going to be sweeter than the alcoholic version, so skip the ½ oz simple syrup, unless you’re into that.

Pharaoh’s heart may have been hardened, but we hope this drink will be a sign in your hand to soften up and enjoy our newfound freedom. L’chayim.
