Timbrel Tea

From Episode 214 - Beshalach with Elana Arian and Cantor Julia Cadrain:

Just as we all partake in the celebration of freedom, we want everyone to enjoy this beverage, so today we’re mixing it up and starting with the non-alcoholic version of our Midrashic Mixology cocktail, the Timbrel Tea.

Start with a tall glass of ice (potentially frozen from Miriam’s Well) and add in 8 fresh mint leaves for the refreshing taste of freedom. Stir those into the ice to lightly release some of those oils and pour in ½ oz fresh lemon juice for the bitter waters and ½ oz honey to sweeten with the flavor of the manna. Next, we need to drown all those ingredients in ½ cup green tea (this is a drowning we CAN celebrate). Ideally, brew this yourself with your favorite brand, but make sure it cools down to room temperature before making your drink.

For an alcoholic version, spike all of that with 1 oz of white rum (or more, depending on how bitter you feel at that moment).

Get those flavors dancing together by stirring until chilled. For the stick that brings it all together, garnish with a toothpick with a raspberry, a blackberry, and a blueberry for Moses, Aaron, and of course, Miriam.
