Moed Margarita
From Episode XXIV: Emor with Andy Gitelson:
Start by muddling a handful of mint leaves, maybe a quarter of a cup, with ½ oz lime juice ½ oz orange liquor. Add in 1 oz watermelon juice and 1 ½ oz tequila. Shake that with ice and strain over fresh ice in a glass rimmed with salt. Garnish with a lime wheel and a mint sprig.
For a refreshing non-alcoholic Moed Margarita Mocktail, replace the tequila and orange liquor with 1 oz orange juice and a splash of club soda.
This drink has mint leaves for a fresh new year on Rosh Hashanah, lime in place of the etrog for Sukkot [you can use a citron if you’re feeling extra], orange for Passover — shoutout to orange on the Seder plate, and watermelon, because I couldn’t come up with an ingredient for Yom Kippur. I’m sorry.
We hope you enjoy this calendar of cocktails all rolled into one. Summer is fast approaching and this is a great drink to enjoy in the sun on a warm day.
