Gineration to Gineration
From Episode IV: Toldot with Jonathan Bridge:
In honor of Parashat Toldot — generations, we present to you: Gineration to Gineration.
If you’re fancy, take a copper mule mug. If you’re less fancy, take a highball glass. The drink will taste pretty much the same either way, but you’ll feel cooler if you use the copper. Anyway, fill your vessel of choice with ice. In cocktail shaker, muddle together 1oz simple syrup, ¾oz lime juice, and a mint sprig. Add ice and 1.5oz of beefeater gin and shake well. Beefeater — get it? Like Esau!
Pour over your prepared ice and top with the second gin of our “Gineration to Gineration” cocktail, ginger beer. Garnish with a mint sprig and enjoy. If you’re like me and you don’t like gin very much, you can use vodka, or for those who don’t drink alcohol, the gin can be also substituted with club soda, but in either case, you don’t get the the second “gin” of the pun, which is kind of important, I guess, so additionally garnish with candied ginger.
Don’t trade it for your birthright — l’chayim!
